People who love safaris fall in love with this park right away, and for good reason. Because it is so wild and undeveloped, anything you do here will be magical. The game is great, especially the lion and buffalo. We believe Katavi is Tanzania’s best hidden secret. Katavi only has a few camps. Here are some of our favorites.

Camp in Chada

What We Think There are only a few lodges in Katavi National Park, where Chada is situated. It is one of the most remote lodges in Tanzania and has some of the wildest game viewing in the country. By far, this is the best location. The guides, hosts, and staff are all very good. If you’re going to go to all this trouble, you should stay at the best place. But we couldn’t suggest that you stay at Chada without also going to Greystoke Mahale, which is its sister property in the nearby Mahale Mountains National Park.

The Katuma Lodge

Katuma Bush Lodge is perfect for travelers who want to get away from the usual tourist spots and have a truly unique experience. Animals in this park are interested and don’t know how to interact with people. The groups of pelicans are a sight to behold. There are game drives twice a day, and you can also choose to go on one at night.

Katavi Wildlife Camp

What We Think Katavi only has a few places to stay in the park, but this is our favorite because it has a great view of the Katsunga Plain. This camp is run by the Fox family, who also own and run other properties in southern Tanzania. It is a perfect example of what a safari camp should be like.
