The Tides Lodge, Pangani
The Tides Lodge, Pangani.
Tides is now closed for good.
This is a great little item that works well with some routes. It’s a great deal for the money and works well for all kinds of travelers, from couples to families. It is pretty far away from Zanzibar Island, which is growing all the time, because it is on the coast of the mainland. The Ras Kutani Lodge is cheaper, but the quality has gone down, which makes us think it should be our first choice for a trip to the mainland coast. You can have a much better time at Ras Kutani for a little more money, but the diving at Tides is much better than at Ras Kutani.
What You Need to Know About Tides Beach Resort
About an hour’s trip north of Dar es Salaam, the Tides Lodge is on the coast of the mainland. From Pangani airstrip, the camp is about a 20-minute drive away. From Tanga, it’s about an hour and a half. It works well with a safari route in northern Tanzania.
The cabin is built along the coast, and the main room is in the middle. There is a main area made of wood and bamboo that is open and bright. It is right on the beach. This is the sitting room and bar, where you can enjoy the peace and sea air. The eating area is in the same building, but to the side. This is a great spot for enjoying the views and atmosphere while you eat. The hotel also has a nice-sized pool and an activity center.
There are nine house rooms spread out along the beach. It’s easy to get to and there are plenty of them. The views are also very nice. The rooms look a little old, but they work fine and are clean and up to date on the inside. An insect net hangs over each bed, and the bathroom is kind of open to the room.
The cottage rooms are on one side of the land, and the two suites are on the other. These are a bit more private and bigger. They’re also great for family trips to Tanzania.
A well-equipped activities center is here where you can snorkel, dive, sail a dinghy, or ride a dhow.
