Lazy Lagoon Island | Tanzania

Lazy Lagoon Island | Tanzania

Lazy Lagoon Island | Tanzania. The Fox family runs Lazy Lagoon. They also run a number of other camps in Tanzania very well. The company is great, and it’s clear that Lazy Lagoon has good morals. It’s easy to get to from Dar by car because it’s just south of Bagamoyo, and it’s a great deal. You can get the amazing world-class Ras Kutani beach lodge for a little more money, though. It’s one of the best beach hotels on that whole coast.

Lazy Lagoon: The Truth About It

The island of Lazy Lagoon is 70 km north of Dar es Salaam and only a few km south of Bagamoyo.

There are 12 beach bandas, each with a big Makuti roof that lets in a lot of air. They are all just a few yards from the beach. The main area is set back from the beach and has a big A-shaped roof made of makuti hardwood. Sunrise over Zanzibar, with fishing boats going out to sea, can be seen from the rooms and the main area. At dusk, the view is of the palm trees of Bagamoyo. The best way to end a family vacation or honeymoon in Tanzania.

Each room has its own bathroom, a spacious bed, a hammock outside, and a view of the Indian Ocean from the room’s big veranda. The lounge, bar, and eating area are at the very end of the island, where you can see both east and west. A generator provides 240V power to the swimming pool so that lights can be used and batteries can be charged. Some networks can be reached on cell phones on the island. The rooms have good air flow and some shade, but no air conditioning. The price of the room includes three meals, tea, coffee, and washing.

Wildlife on the island is very healthy. It is likely that you will see bush babies, suni deer, bush pigs, and a huge variety of birds. The seas around here are full of exotic and tropical marine life, and the natural mangrove woods are great places for water birds to nest.

You can go sailing (on Laser II dinghies), kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, and on organized tours to Bagamoyo town and the Kaole ruins. The nearby dive center can set up diving if you ask about rates.
