Singita Sabora Tented Camp
Singita Sabora Tented Camp. Our View Sabora is a permanent, very fancy tented camp in the west of the Serengeti that is owned by Singita. It’s one of the best hotels in Tanzania and perfect for any safari in Tanzania. Right on the plains is where the camp is located. In May and June, this area is full of wildebeest as they migrate through.
With its antique furniture and well-thought-out, roomy huts, the camp feels like a classic safari camp from the 1920s. But Singita has left its mark on the camp with some of the best food, a great pool, and the best camping experience possible.
The Truth About the Singita Sabora Tented Camp
It is in the private Grumeti area, which is a game area that is only for its members and is connected to the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park. The only other people who own land in this game area are Singita, a world-class Tanzania safari company. From the Sasakwa airstrip, you can get to all three sites in the reserve. Regular flights leave from Dar es Salaam and cities in the north of Tanzania.
The lodge’s main area is built on top of a wooden platform and has eating areas under tents and lounges filled with beautiful old furniture. As far as the eye can see, the front of the house has a big veranda with views of the Sabora fields. This is a great place to eat dinner under the stars. A small pool is set back from the house on the other side.
The guest tents are very large, spread out, and have views of the fields. They are decorated to the highest standards, making the tented safari experience very luxurious. The rooms have air conditioning, power, and large bathrooms.
The Grumeti Reserve only lets people in open-sided cars watch animals inside the reserve. On request, you can also go on a walking adventure, and the horse safaris are also great. It is also possible to go off-road, which lets you follow animals through their natural habitat for the best photo chances. As part of the reserve, Singita also offers the Singita Exolore, a mobile luxury camping Serengeti Safari adventure.
If you’re going to see Singita in their Grumeti concession, it might be a good idea to stay at both this camp and one in the National Park (maybe Singita Mara?). Because the migration happens at different times of the year, the wildebeest only come to the Grumeti region in June and leave by the middle of July. This means that you only have a short time to catch them. If you are planning to come at a different time of the year, you should stay at Singita Sabora and another camp at the same time.
From November to March, the herds gather on the Ndutu Plains, where in February, there is a very busy three weeks of giving birth. From here, the wildebeest go north through Seronera and Grumeti until they reach Kogatende in July. While the Singita have their own land in the north called Singita Mara, which is a great place to see the amazing crossings you see in movies, the National Park does not allow off-roading and can get crowded. So, going to both a National Park camp and a Singita lodge in their private concession will let you see both the wildebeest migration and rare, close-up wildlife without too many limits.
A couple of hours away, there are some great places to go to the beach after an exciting tour at Singita. After a safari, there’s nothing better than having a cool drink on the beach, whether you’re on the island of Mnemba or in one of Zanizbar’s high-end hotels.
There are many hotels on the island of Zanzibar, but you should be picky about where you stay. A lot of the island is at sea, which means that the beaches aren’t always what you’d expect. There are beautiful villas for honeymooners and bigger villas for families at the Xanadu and White Sands hotels. These villas have all the amenities one could want. But Zuri has the best beach of all the hotels. Since the tide doesn’t come in or out here, you can spend all day lying on the white sand or playing around in the water. The many swimming clubs and bars are also great places to pass the time during the day.
