It’s a beautiful, friendly, rustic camp in what is possibly the best spot in the park to see wildlife. It is definitely worth going if you want to have a real safari experience. If you visit this camp between July and November, you will have one of the best times on the northern route.

Oliver’s Camp Tarangire: What You Need to Know

Paul Oliver, one of the first people in the Tarangire to fight theft, set up Oliver’s camp. Asilia now owns it, and they have kept the spirit of adventure that Oliver built, along with the high standards of hospitality and service that you would expect from an Asilia property. So, it’s a great choice for anyone who really wants to get into the Tanzanian safari mood.

Oliver’s is by far the best place in the park to eat. It’s about 30 minutes’ drive from Kuro Airstrip. The camp looks out over the flood plains, which are a favorite spot for the park’s many elephants. It really is out in the middle of nowhere, which makes it a great place to start exploring the wild southern part of Tarangire.

The tents are decorated in a way that makes them look like a traditional Tarangire safari camp. They fit in perfectly with the plants around them. The place makes you feel private, which isn’t always the case on the northern route.

A lot of interesting paperbacks about the area and its wildlife can be found in the main area. It’s nice to sit back with a gin and tonic on one of the deep, worn-out leather chairs and take in the view.

The walking safaris and the night drives are two things that stand out at Oliver’s. The guides always have a lot of experience, and the night drives come with a night vision scope that makes the experience truly amazing.

Some people have never been to Tarangire, which is in the northern part of Tanzania. A lot of people visit Ngorongoro Crater, but Tarangire is less popular. People who do come will have an unforgettable experience with close and often private sightings. It’s known for its elephant groups, but you can also often see lions, buffalo, and other big animals here.

Tarangire is a place you should go if you have the time. Because of its position, you can either fly in or drive in, but we suggest staying at least two nights. Because of how far away the camps are, how much it costs to get to the park, and how many things there are to do, you need at least two nights to make it worth it.

If you stick to Asilia’s sites, you can’t go wrong. You could combine Tarangire with the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. Their Highlands property by the Ngorongoro Crater is a great and unique place to stay while you explore the Crater’s wildlife and the Maasai towns nearby. By the Ngorongoro Crater, two nights is more than enough time. This place doesn’t have many things to do, and the Crater isn’t very big, so a one-day game drive is plenty.

Asilia’s migration camps, like Ubuntu or Kimondo, are some of the best in the Serengeti National Park. Their permanent hotels, Dunia and Namiri, offer great opportunities to see wildlife in the middle of the Serengeti all year long. It really does depend on what you want, but you can be sure that Asilia’s sites will give you a vacation you’ll never forget.
