Ubuntu Camp | Serengeti
Ubuntu Camp | Serengeti. What We Think. This little camp, which is part of the Asilia name, is a great deal, and you can be sure that you will get great service in every way. It follows the migration, which makes it a great place to see wildlife and set up camp in the middle of nowhere. The camp is very small, with only eight tents. It’s great for both individuals and groups. You can choose from other mobile tented camps that are better quality, come with private cars, and may have better guides. They do cost more, though, and that price is fair. Alex Walker’s Serian, Nomads Serengeti Safari Camp, and Olakira are some of the better tented camps you can stay at.
Ubuntu Camp: The Truth About It
Ubuntu is a mobile tent camp in the Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania. The camp is meant to track the wildebeest migration and stop it in its tracks. Wildebeest gather in big groups in the Ndutu area from December to March, which is where the camp is located. In February and the three weeks following, 8,000 calves are born every day, making for some amazing sights. The herds start going north at the end of March. They go through the Seronera and Grumeti regions before getting to Kogatende in the north of the park in the last two weeks of June.
Ubuntu is a safari-themed camp, just like its sister camps Olakira, Kimondo, and Dunia. Its goal is to provide both a wild and real experience as well as a luxurious and comfy one. With its open layout and views of the fields, the common area is a great place to relax with a drink in the lounge or bar. The eating room is also made of canvas and lets you feel like you’re in the bush.
There are only six fabric tents, and each one has a large bedroom and private bathroom. A flush toilet and a shower bag made of cloth are in the bathroom. When you need them, staff will fill the shower bag with hot water. The camp’s plan is simple, but it works very well.
As with all Asilia properties, the service is top-notch, and the more you immerse yourself, the better the experience will be. Game drives are what you can do here. The guides are great, and you can trust the quality of the cars and gear. The Serengeti safari is the perfect way to spend your vacation if you want an exciting trip you will never forget.
When going on vacation in the Serengeti, one of the most important decisions you have to make is what kind of camp you want to stay in. There are some big differences between your mobile camps and hotels that stay put. The permanent cabins don’t move around all year and have more amenities, like swimming pools and hot tubs. This makes them great for families with kids who like to splash around in the cool water during the middle of the day, but they cost a lot more.
The Serengeti, on the other hand, is made up of mobile groups. There are permanent hotels all over Africa, but only in Tanzania can you find a camp that moves with the wildebeest migration. We love them! The fact that they move around makes them great value for money, and their movements put you in the best place to see the migration all year long. This is what makes East Africa so popular with tourists: mobile camps let you really get into nature and give you that real “Out of Africa” feel.
A normal itinerary in Northern Tanzania would start with a couple of nights in the Ngorongoro Crater before going to the Serengeti. Asilia’s property The Highlands is the best place to stay in this area. You can walk here, see the Maasai villages, and look at the animals that live in the Crater itself. The rooms are made like bubbles, which isn’t found at any other camp in Tanzania. If you combine this with one of Asila’s Serengeti camps, you’ll have an unforgettable trip.
It’s a great idea to combine Ubuntu with one of Asilia’s fixed camps in a different area if you want to spend a short or long time in the Serengeti. Namiri Plains is a great place to camp all year because you can see some of the best big cats in Africa. Since most of the year the migration is in either the north or south of the park, joining Ubuntu with Namiri should not be missed.
