Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge. The Lemala Kuria Hills are a new and permanent feature in the north of the Serengeti. The modern glass-fronted bedrooms with colorful décor are not in the typical Africa style, yet Kuria Hills can be viewed as the ideal resort for many, particularly honeymooners. Private plunge pools, a convenient location, and beautiful sunsets make this an economical alternative to many more typical campers.

Lamala Kuria Hills Lodge: The Facts

Despite not being as long-standing as more traditional Northern Serengeti Lodges such Nomad Lamai and Sayari, Lemala Kuria Hills has developed itself as a highly competitive luxury brand in the Serengeti since 2013.

This permanent lodge features modern glass-fronted bedrooms that open out onto a private deck. Each room also has a private plunge pool, which is rare on safari. The bathrooms and rooms are both of good quality, although we believe this deviates little from the real safari feel and ambiance that we enjoy.

Lemala Kuria Hills is superbly positioned, with the majority of rooms offering a rare and breathtaking view of the Serengeti Sunset. With the Mara River only a half-hour game drive away, river crossings are possible from mid-July to mid-November. During this season, drives are taken in contemporary Land Cruisers with roof protection but no covered sides.

The Lodge lacks the modest charm of more traditional camps, but it does give a very pleasant and lavish experience for honeymooners, for example: the size of the rooms, bathrooms, infinity pools, and G&Ts while viewing the sunset are the epitome of luxury at an inexpensive price.

As previously said, the greatest time of year to come is from mid-July to November. During these months, the migration reaches a climax, with thousands of wildebeest crossing the Mara River. It’s a spectacle unlike any other, with people risking their lives against wild currents and lurking crocodiles in quest of greener pastures.

Aside from the peak months, game viewing in the Kogatende region is still excellent. With such a dense population of big cats and other animals, no game drive in the National Park’s northern reaches is uninteresting.
