Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge

Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge

Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge. Given the scarcity of options on the crater rim, the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge is an ideal alternative; it provides easy access to the crater while being reasonably priced. As a huge hotel, it lacks the ambiance of a lodge in a world-renowned area. But why should it when you’re only there for a night or two and the focus is on the crater, not the lodge’s design and aesthetics?

This is a decent alternative for the rim, but if you want something with more charm and a lower price, consider Plantation Lodge in the highlands. If you want one of Africa’s most sought-after properties and have no budget constraints, choose the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.

Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge: The Facts

The Ngorongoro Serena Lodge is situated on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, an hour’s drive from the Manyara airstrip and three and a half hours from Arusha. The Serena, a lynchpin in any north Tanzanian safari circuit, is the go-to option for visitors looking spectacular views from the rim.

The lodge’s almost “Flintstones” shape allows it to be extremely spacious. The entire lodge is tastefully adorned with hand-painted cave-style graphics and patterns, big arches on the walls, central fire places that protrude from the communal rooms, and lovely views down from the restaurant. The dining area and bar are warm and appealing, with crackling wood fires, and the menu is both good and broad, with at least four dishes. A fantastic Ngorongoro Safari for everyone.

The Ngorongoro Crater Serena Lodge’s 75 rooms are laid out on two levels in long lines along the crater rim, as if built into the crater’s natural gradient, and are well hidden. The rooms are laid out in a linear fashion similar to hotel rooms, but they include all of the required amenities, including magnificent views, bathrooms, and spacious double beds.

The Ngorongoro Crater only allows daytime game drives and no other activity.
