Best places to stay on safari in Tarangire
Best places to stay on safari in Tarangire. Tarangire National Park is exceptional in terms of both scenery and wildlife. It is home to a large population of elephants, and the environment is stunning and diverse. It is significantly off the beaten path and thus feels more wild and chaotic than its northern neighbors. Tarangire has many campgrounds and lodges to choose from; here are a few of our favourites.
Little Chem Chem
Our View Little Chem Chem is located in a gorgeous and distinctively Tarangire landscape, surrounded by tall Baobab trees and acacia forest, with breathtaking views of Lake Burunge.
Little Oliver’s
Our View Little Oliver is a newer camp and the younger brother of our favorite in Tarangire National Park. Little Oliver’s is about a km downstream of Oliver’s Camp, making it ideal for exploring this undisturbed, beautiful environment.
Oliver’s Camp
Our View Oliver’s Camp is our favourite campsite in Tarangire National Park. It’s a nice, pleasant, rustic camp in arguably the best wildlife viewing region in the park. If you want to get a real, authentic safari experience, this place is absolutely worth visiting. If you visit between July and November, this camp provides one of the best experiences on the northern circuit.
Ndovu Camp
Our View Tarangire is one of the most underappreciated parks in northern Tanzania. Ndovu Camp is located deep within the park and offers an outstanding value, luxury safari alternative with fantastic game viewing and the conveniences of a great lodge. With most visitors only visiting the park’s far northern extremities, staying closer to the core sections, away from these places, is essential for getting the most out of Tarangire.
Kuro Camp
Our View This is one of Tanzania’s newest camps and offers a classic Nomad safari experience. It opened in 2014. Tucked away in a secluded region of Tarangire National Park, this is an excellent choice for people seeking Nomad’s tried-and-true combination of luxury, environmental concern, and excellent guiding.
Chem Chem Lodge.
Our View Chem Chem is a magnificent resort with a gorgeous setting, however it is not suitable for anyone seeking a pumping safari lodge. It’s about taking it slow and seeing another side of safari. Perfect for the few who have the time and money.
Swala Camp
Swala is likely the most luxurious camp in Tarangire National Park. The bandas are all tastefully decorated and pleasant. It is located in arguably the greatest game viewing region in the park, making it ideal for game drives and walking safaris. It should not be compared to Olivers because the two have quite different styles. The area is near a marsh, which attracts a large number of elephants during the dry season.
Tarangire treetops.
Tarangire Treetops is operated by Elewana, a reputable safari operator with a portfolio of some of Tanzania’s finest properties. The camp itself is fantastic. Rooms, layout, and views. It’s a great environment for a safari camp, and the product’s quality is evident.
However, the one disadvantage is that the camp is located outside the park. This isn’t the most ideal position given that the park has some wonderful properties. Our first choice property is Olivers Camp, followed by Swala, all of which are in the park, then Tarangire Treetops.
Tarangare Sopa Lodge
Probably the best of the Sopa lodges in Tanzania since it provides a rather private experience (given the amount of rooms) and is in an excellent location for wildlife viewing. Being a Sopa lodge, it is rather antiquated, but it serves as a fantastic money saver in a prime location inside the park. Ideally, you’d like to stay a little further south at Olivers or Swala, which are more expensive but well worth it. They are in excellent sites and are modest tented camps.
