Foxes Rufiji River Camp
Foxes Rufiji River Camp. On the cheap side, the Rufiji River Camp is one of the camps in the Selous. If you want to save money, we think you should go to Lake Manze Tented Camp instead. It will only cost you a little more, but you will have a much better time at the game park.
The Rufiji River Camp: What You Need to Know
One of the oldest cabins in Nyerere National Park (which used to be called The Selous Game Reserve) is Rufiji. The Foxes family owns and runs the lodge. It was recently redone and is now a clean and cozy place to stay in the park.
The lodge is close to the Mtemere gate, which gives you entry to the Rufiji River for boat safaris. A 45-minute flight from Dar es Salaam gets you to the lodge. This makes it easy to get to and great for a Tanzania safari.
The main area is made of stone and big thatched buildings, which make the lodge feel more stable than the other tent camps in the reserve. You can sit back and enjoy the view of the Rufuji River from some soft furniture.
Along the river, there are 14 tents with private bathrooms and an open stone patio. This is a private place to relax after lunch or have morning tea while watching animals. There are three much bigger rooms that can sleep up to four people each.
