Because there aren’t many hotels in Mafia, it’s a good place to stay while you tour the nearby islands and have a busy few days. There are many places to stay in Mafia. Fanjove Private Island has changed the rules by giving people a beautiful piece of wild Africa for a lot less money. Fanjove is a barefoot luxury paradise that people often call “beach-chic.” It was just rebuilt to compete with its neighbor Mnemba, but it doesn’t cost nearly as much. The key is to keep things simple, and this beautiful private island is our idea of paradise.

Island of Thanda

What We Think Thanda Island is one of the most private island getaways in the world. It’s a paradise where you can spend time with family and friends without anyone else being there. Ten years of work were needed to find and create this incredibly rare place as a very special, private island getaway. Thanda Island is a tropical island in the Indian Ocean, just off the east coast of Tanzania. It has one very nice house.

The Kinasi Lodge

What We Think Kinasi Lodge might be the best lodge in Mafia. Mafia is a pretty far away island that hasn’t really become a tourist destination like Zanzibar has, so it doesn’t have many good, cheap places to stay. There’s Pole Pole, which is cheap but doesn’t have a beach, and Chole Mjini, which is better for people who like to take risks. But Kinasi has everything you could want. It has a good beach and spa. Sometimes you might find a great beach in Mafia. If you do, enjoy it!

Pole Pole

Our View Pole Pole, whose name means “slowly slowly,” is a nice little beach house in Chole Bay on the Italian Run. It’s been around for a while and now has a nice pool, making it one of the best places to stay on the island. The cabin is very relaxing and quiet, and it’s a good place to stay if you want to go diving in the nearby Mafia Marine Park.

Hi Chole Mjini

What We Think Not everyone should stay at this lodge. In its own weird way, it does work for the right person. This is not a business trying to make money; it’s an eco-friendly tourist project.
