Ruaha National Park is a secret gem in the south of Tanzania. It is real, wild, and untamed. Ruaha is more remote than Selous, so there are fewer tourists to the park. This makes for a more personal and intimate safari experience. As a result, there aren’t many vehicles in the area, so game drives in this desert give you the chance to see unique and private sights all by yourself. On a Southern Parks tour, it would be great to see both Ruaha and Selous. However, Ruaha has enough wildlife for you to see on its own.

Racha is Tanzania’s biggest national park. It’s a wild, out-of-the-way place with huge groups of elephants and cows, as well as a lot of dangerous animals. It is a usual dry season reserve, and as the dry season goes on, it does get easier to see animals. The park was in the middle of a drought in the new Netflix show Our Planet. The camera team caught a scene of lions and buffalo hunting that captivated people all over the world. Ituku Camp

What We Think Ikuka is a lodge that has something for everyone. It is on top of a beautiful rocky cliff with the best views of Ruaha National Park. This beautiful lodge is run by a family and is full of love and care. It’s perfect for both big groups and couples on their vacation. Great cabins have great people running them. Mark, who was born and raised in the Ruaha area, runs and owns the camp. He is in charge of all the walking and guided tours in this park and knows it inside and out. You can look forward to a private, calm, and high-class tour here, with stunning views and excellent guides.

The Kichaka Camp

What We Think Andrew “Moli” Molinaro, one of Tanzania’s best-known guides, started Kichaka, which is still one of the most interesting camps in the country. He runs it with his partner Noelle Herzog. Kichaka’s two camps offer walking tours in the far northern parts of Ruaha National Park. They are small, luxurious, and in the middle of the wild. If you want to have an experience that is fully remote and alone, look no further.

Kokoko Camp

What We Think The Kokoko Camp is the most private camp in Ruaha National Park, and maybe even in all of East Africa. It provides a simple but definitely unique place to stay. Kokoko’s movable roof is a unique place to sleep that you will never forget, especially when there are only two tents’ worth of other safari-goers nearby.

The Jabali Ridge

What We Think With only eight rooms, Jabali Ridge is a small but luxurious lodge in a great spot. It really stands out as a beautiful lodge in a great spot for seeing the amazing Ruaha wildlife.

The Jongomero Camp

What We Think Jongomero is a great place for a trek. We love it more than any other place in Tanzania, and we don’t say that lightly. It is one of the most private camps in Ruaha National Park and has great service, delicious food, and knowledgeable guides. We really think Jongomero is a great choice, and we especially like the idea of joining it with Fanjove Private Island, which is its sister property.

Camp on the Old River in Mdonya

What We Think There are a lot of great deals at Mdonya Camp in Ruaha National Park. It has all the same personality and charm as its well-known sister camp, Lake Manze Tented Camp. Mdonya may not be as fancy as some other camps, but that’s the whole point of a trip. Because of its great setting, you can be sure to see a lot of wildlife, and you don’t have to spend that extra money if you don’t care about luxury. We trust this little camp a lot because Mdonya has always done what it says it will do.

Bush Camp Mwagusi

What We Think This is a great camp in the middle of nowhere in Ruaha National Park. It has a great reputation for being a real game camp that gives its guests a real experience. In a true Tanzanian way, it gives you everything you need in a “rustic luxury.” It’s real adventure in a great park with great guides, run by the one and only Chris Fox, who has lived in the park his whole life. Plus the food and service are both great, which helps.

At Usangu Camp

What We Think Asilia runs the beautiful, eco-friendly Usangu camp, which is tucked away in the middle of nowhere in Ruaha. Usangu Camp is a real wonder because it has a strong conservation ethic and is sustainable and can be used again and again. The camp can be used by everyone or just a few people at a time. It offers a range of activities, such as boating, day and night game drives in open vehicles, conservation research, and walking tours led by very experienced guides.

Kigelia

What We Think Kigelia is an eco-friendly, back-to-basics camp run by Nomad. The camp is great for everyone because it fits in well with its surroundings and has great guides. It has a pretty simple look, but the good quality is clear the whole time you’re there, making it a great choice for a Ruaha safari.

A kilimatanga

Kilimatonge is closed right now.
In the wilds of Ruaha National Park, there is a camp that is completely private. It goes back and forth between two spots on the Mdonya River, which is near Kilimatonge Hill. It’s pretty basic, but this camp, along with Kichaka, is the only one that really feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere and takes you back to the days of early colonial settlers.

The Kwihala Camp

The Our View Kwihala Camp is closed right now.
A great middle ground has been found by the camp. It has created a real, wild wilderness that goes well with the very high-quality service and cozy rooms. You can really get to know the wild and untamed scenery of Ruaha at the camp, which makes it a very special place to stay.

Ruaha River Lodge

What We Think The Ruaha River Lodge is the least expensive place to stay in Ruaha National Park, but it’s still a good deal. Right on the banks of the Ruaha River, with rolling hills in the background, it’s a beautiful spot. The only bad thing about the cabin is that it’s pretty big and not made of brick and stone. Besides that, though, it’s in a great spot and is a great deal. We really think that the small extra cost to stay at Mdonya Old River Camp is worth it because the whole experience will be better.
