Hideaway of Nungwi Resort and Spa

Hideaway of Nungwi Resort and Spa. This big resort is one or two steps above its many Italian rivals. It opened to a lot of excitement in 2013. It has big rooms with nice furniture that all face the sea at the bottom of the hill. Hideaway has a lot of different places to eat, from the usual lunch by the pool to African game meat. A five-star property should have a big pool and an even bigger spa. As a big resort, it’s not for everyone, but it does a good job of filling the gap between Baraza/The Residence and the many huge (and often bad) big resorts.

Getting to Know the Hideaway of Nungwi Resort and Spa

This lodge is one of the newest places to stay in Zanzibar. It is on the western side of the northernmost point of the island, near a lot of other big resorts. They’re here because this area has the best beaches. They’re not as private as other spots, and the waves from Zanzibar still hit them, but most of the time they’re beautiful white sand beaches.

Because it is such a big location, you might sometimes think you are somewhere else in the world. Of course, the rooms are mostly decorated in Asian styles, but not too much like many of Zanzibar’s bigger hotels. If you don’t count the VIP room, the Hideaway is a mostly nice and well-spaced hotel. The grounds are well taken care of, and every room has a view of the gardens or the sea.

There is a mandatory meal that is good, but if guests want something a little more exciting, there are a number of restaurants that serve everything from Japanese food to African game meat. You would think that both the spa and the dive center have a wide range of services and great gear.

The Hideaway has 100 rooms and shouldn’t be compared to Baraza or The Residence, but it has managed to stand out from the other big hotels on the island. A nice place to stay. We do like the smaller hotels better for honeymoons.
