Indian Ocean Holidays in Tanzania

Indian Ocean Holidays in Tanzania

Indian Ocean Holidays in Tanzania. On the other hand, there are some real hidden treasures on the mainland coast of Tanzania as well as on the surrounding islands of Pemba and Mafia. Zanzibar is frequently the focus of attention due to the stunning beach retreats that it offers on the western coast of the Indian Ocean. The stunning beaches of Zanzibar are well known for drawing large crowds, yet the coast of the mainland provides a setting that is significantly more peaceful and secluded.

There are a few areas along the coast of the mainland of Tanzania that are well worth spending time at. The beaches that are located south of Tanga provide soft white sands and some excellent locations for diving and snorkeling. Another one of our absolute top favorite hotels, Ras Kutani, is located just a fifteen-minute flight south of Dar es Salaam. It is widely considered to be one of the best beach hideaways in Tanzania. This is the epitome of barefoot luxury, a stunning location that is perfect for unwinding and recharging your batteries.

The islands of Pemba and Mafia, which are located just off the coast of Tanzania, are not as well-known as Zanzibar, but they provide some beautiful reefs that have not been spoiled, making them ideal for snorkeling and diving. However, it is arguable that the beaches on these islands are not as good as those on Zanzibar. The experience you receive from Zanzibar vacations is far more distant and less visited than the experience you get from these true tropical islands. These islands have dense vegetation, fantastic reefs, and beach spits, which makes them ideal for diving and snorkeling away from the crowds.

Zanzibar: Which Islands Off the Coast of Tanzania Should You Visit Instead?

Pemba Island is located about thirty minutes to the north of Zanzibar’s main island, and Mafia Island is just forty-five minutes to the south for those who are interested in visiting. Both of these places are mostly known for their diving, and while their beaches are not as good as those in Zanzibar, they are still excellent choices for scuba divers who want to avoid the crowds and take pleasure in the lush coral reefs.

There is one specific jewel that ought to be mentioned here: Ras Kutani, which is located just 15 minutes south of Dar, never fails to impress. With only 15 rooms, including four stunning suites, Ras Kutani is situated on a stunning beach and exudes an atmosphere that is reminiscent of a beach cottage with a stylish twist.

Every other location on Zanzibar that is comparable would cost at least twice as much! In addition to being an ideal location for honeymoons in Tanzania, this is a lovely place to kick back and relax for a few days at the beginning or conclusion of your trip to Tanzania. Not suitable, however, for those individuals who enjoy being active from dawn till sunset and who are always on the move…

Fanjove is also the new star; it is a private island that can be rented for the same price as a standard Zanzibar lodge.
