Katavi Wildlife Camp
Katavi Wildlife Camp. Katavi only has a few places to stay in the park, but this is our favorite because it has a great view of the Katsunga Plain. This camp is run by the Fox family, who also own and run other properties in southern Tanzania. It is a perfect example of what a safari camp should be like.
What You Need to Know About Katavi Wildlife Camp
This camp is in western Tanzania, and the only way to get there is by private flight from either Arusha or Ruaha twice a week. It costs a lot to stay in Katavi because of the planes, and many people also go to Mahale Mountain National Park, which has a great lodge on the shores of Lake Tanganyika.
Only a few hundred people visit Katavi every year, which keeps it one of Tanzania’s best safari wildernesses. Katavi only has a few safari lodges, and the ones we suggest are the Katavi Wildlife Lodge and the Chada Katavi by Nomad. Both are great, but Chada Camp is the best if you can afford it.
On the dry season, the main area of Katavi Wildlife Lodge has a great view of the Katsunga Plains, where you can often see huge herds. People can sit back and relax in the afternoon in the main area, which is very open and has a bar nearby.
There are eight guest tents at the camp. They are set up on high platforms and have thatched roofs. The tents are in the style of Meru and are fairly roomy, with bathrooms right next to them in the back. Each tent has a great view. Your stay in Katavi would be better if you stayed at this cute little camp!
