Laba Laba Migration Camp

Laba Laba Migration Camp

Laba Laba Migration Camp bills itself as ‘the most luxurious movable tented camp in the Serengeti’, and it’s difficult to disagree. With opulent furnishings fit for a Mayfair home decor shop and three Migration-following spots, it offers enough of luxury, wildlife, and quality. Its initial price of less than $1,000 per person per night makes it more affordable than some of its luxury tented competitors.

Laba Laba Migration Camp: The Facts

It’s incredible to think that Laba Laba can be disassembled, moved, and left with no trace in less than a week – yet it can. Three times a year, the camp packs up in six days and switches site in the Serengeti so that tourists can witness the Great

The wildebeest migration. The Serengeti is so vast that if witnessing the herds is on your bucket list, camp site is crucial.

Between December 10 and March 31, Laba Laba can be seen near the Southern Serengeti Ndutu plains, not far from the Olduvai Gorge, one of the continent’s most important prehistoric monuments. In addition to learning about history, travelers can take a drive to watch the migration’s calving season in full force and identify predators hiding in the wings.

From April 8 to July, the camp relocates to the Masabi district of the Western Serengeti, making the most of this rarely frequented area (in comparison to the central Seronera core). Camp is located in Kogatende, northern Serengeti, from July to the end of November. The goal is to witness the Mara river crossings.

Wherever camp is located, it has the same open-sided layout as the main area, along with old and historical artifacts and comfy sitting. The ten tents, comprising eight doubles and two family tents with interconnecting rooms, have incredibly comfy beds, a sofa, and a small outdoor porch.

While there are no swimming pools, there is a gym, which is unusual for tented mobile campers! With 55 staff members serving only 22 guests, the luxury here is in the personalized experience, where wonderful healthy food, five-star service, and exquisite brown, cream, and brass furniture are only a bonus to the quality safari stay you will receive.

Outside of the lodge, guests can go on walking safaris or take hot air balloon rides over the migration. Every group also receives their own private vehicle, which is included in the price but normally requires a premium additional fee.
