Mbalageti Safari Lodge
Mbalageti Safari Lodge. Mbalageti Tented Lodge is actually pretty attractive, however its size falls short. The accommodations are excellent, and the main area is welcoming and friendly, however with up to 80 people in the lodge, it does not feel like a normal safari camp or appeal to us. The Great Migration is similarly seasonal, with only a limited period of time each year while it is in the right location.
Mbalageti Lodge: The Facts
Mbalageti Lodge is located in the Serengeti’s Western Corridor, about a half-hour drive from the Grumeti airstrip, which is a two-and-a-half-hour flight from Arusha.
Although the camp is highly seasonal for the migration, it does have some excellent residential game, and you will see the migration as it heads north around June. The camp is also well positioned for balloon flights out of Grumeti. The views from the Dutwa Plains camp are ideal for watching the game as it moves past.
The lodge consists of 40 beautifully appointed rooms with plenty of space and handcrafted and bespoke furnishings. There are many lodging categories, providing options for folks with varying budgets. All of the rooms are en suite, and the higher room types have fantastic amenities such as outdoor baths and wider verandas.
The main area has a spacious restaurant, an excellent bar and pool, and a well-stocked curio shop. The main space includes various intriguing off-sets, one of which is a presentation area for educational documentaries about Tanzania.
