What You Need to Know About Mdonya Old River Camp

The Mdonya Old River Camp is in the southern parts of Ruaha National Park, away from everything else. On the southern edge of the park, by the Ruaha river, is where most of the park is. Because Mdonya is north of the few other camps in this area, you can have an adventure when no one else is around.

All parts of Mdonya’s main area are open. There are a few couches, cabinets, and a small book shelf under a big khaki canvas roof that makes a huge space. The rooms are simple tents in the way of Meru, and all eleven of them are spread out so that you can get some privacy. Each one has a large bathroom with a shower outside under the stars. The rooms don’t have power, but the lanterns and candles make them feel even more like Africa. You can even enjoy some peace and quiet during the day from a deck chair on your porch. At night, the lack of light pollution lets the stars shine brightly, and the views are breathtaking.

The Ruaha Safari in Mdonya is, to say the least, great, and this is partly because of the Park itself. There are only a few hotels in Ruaha National Park because it is the size of a small country. This keeps it from losing its wild and unkempt feel. It’s amazing to see wildlife here. Aside from the large groups of lions, elephants, and buffalo, leopards and animals like the serval, aardwolf, and smaller kudu that are harder to spot are also often seen. It’s great for people who love wildlife because it has a mix of animals from Southern and Eastern Africa.
