Nasikia Migration Camp
Nasikia Migration Camp. Nasikia’s migration camp is a no-frills, transportable camp that occupies two great spots to capture the best of the wildebeest migration. While the camp is not opulent, it does what it says on the tin and provides an excellent base for exploring the Serengeti’s best spots for catching thundering herds of wildebeest as they run the gauntlet of crossing the Mara River, or while thousands of calves are born on the short, grassy plains.
Nasikia Migration Camp: The Facts
This light-footed camp picks up sticks and moves twice a year between Kogatende (Northern Serengeti) and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (Southern Serengeti), allowing you to see the most spectacular moments of the herds’ annual pilgrimage.
The camp consists of ten Meru-style tented suites, one of which is reserved for families. The rooms are large and equipped with all of the necessary, as well as a variety of furniture and storage options. The beds are wide and comfortable, and with mesh netting beneath the canvas overlay on all sides, you can enjoy views of the surrounding plains during the day (and night).
Each room has its own en-suite bathroom, complete with bucket showers and a flushing toilet. As a mobile camp, each room and en-suite includes solar-powered illumination that you may use whenever you choose.
A little veranda at the front of the tent allows you to observe the world go by during the day, in between activities. It is not uncommon to observe herds of wildebeest grazing or elephants browsing from the comfort of your campsite.
The common areas consist of a lounge/bar area and a dining tent, all designed in the same Meru style. Most guests spend their time here while they are not on a game drive. Downtime on safari is all about reclining on a soft sofa, holding a book in one hand and sipping a cool drink!
Nasikia’s mobile migratory camp is ideal for visitors looking for a low-cost, tented camp experience in one of Africa’s most spectacular national parks.
