Nasikia Ndovu Camp | Tarangire
Nasikia Ndovu Camp | Tarangire. Tarangire is one of the most underappreciated parks in northern Tanzania. Ndovu Camp is located deep within the park and offers an outstanding value, luxury safari alternative with fantastic game viewing and the conveniences of a great lodge. With most visitors only visiting the park’s far northern extremities, staying closer to the core sections, away from these places, is essential for getting the most out of Tarangire.
Nasikia Ndovu: The Facts
Ndovu is one of our favorite Tarangire estates. Being located within the park allows guests to enjoy walking safaris and night drives, which are not feasible at camps on the park’s boundary, as well as your typical day-time game drives.
It consists of fifteen suites, including two interconnecting family rooms and a honeymoon suite with an extra outdoor shower. Each suite combines true African safari and luxury. The hardwood decking serves as a foundation for double sliding doors that allow you to see across Tarangire’s wilderness. Each room has netted windows, allowing you to enjoy the cool breeze on hot days and the sunrise with a cup of coffee in bed.
The main part is an open thatched room used for meals. This is near the swimming pool and allows guests to rest and unwind between morning and afternoon activities.
Although the camp is accessible all year, the ideal time to visit is from June to October for wildlife viewing. Huge elephant herds assemble in the region’s remaining few permanent water sources, resulting in spectacular sightings. Buffalo herds can number in the hundreds, and the diversity of the area allows for the possibility of seeing big cats like lions and cheetahs, as well as lesser-known species like servals and aardwolves.
