Tembo Hotel | Stone Town, Zanzibar

Tembo Hotel | Stone Town, Zanzibar. We don’t like recommending this hotel because it has let us down in the past. Although some rooms are very nice, the service is not even close to being as good as its competitors. The most important thing is that it is a dry hotel, which is a nightmare for those of us who like to drink at sunset.

The Truth About the Stone Town Tembo Hotel

In Stone Town, the hotel is a 15-minute drive from the airport, which is only a 20-minute flight from Dar es Salaam.
The Serena is more flashy than the Tembo, which is located on Forodhani Street in Zanzibar Stone Town. The Tembo is in a beautiful old house on the water, with a swimming pool and a terrace facing the beach.

Because of this, the Tembo has a nice, cool, and breezy vibe, and the rooms face the sea and sky, which is especially nice during the warmer months, from December to March.

Each room has a fridge, a phone, satellite TV, a hairdryer, and air conditioning. Some rooms have deep Persian baths with showers and antique furniture from Zanzibar. Even though it doesn’t serve booze, it’s still a very elegant and real option.

There is a bar across the street and many places close to enjoy a drink in the evening. The price is fair for such nice rooms (the best ones have views of the sea), but the staff doesn’t seem willing to go the extra mile to help you.
