Wayo Manyara Green Camp. Lake Manyara is, on the surface, the least popular of the Northern Tanzania parks. There is no Great Wildebeest Migration or Big Five, therefore it is frequently overlooked. However, deep within the park’s Southern sector lies one of Tanzania’s most calm, gorgeous, and tranquil secrets, which we insist must be included on any wilderness-seeking guest’s itinerary.

Wayo Manyara Green Camp: The Facts

As with all Wayo Camps, location is critical to having the best experience. Set beneath the tumbling Endabash Waterfall, the camp is on the edge of the dry riverbed, snuggled in the Manyara trees. Unlike any other camp, it provides the most tranquil way to begin (or end) a Northern Tanzania safari.

Each of the eight spacious and elegant tents is on raised decking and furnished with modest amenities, delivering all one might desire for while remaining understated. En-suite bathrooms have bucket showers and flushing toilets.

The camp’s charm stems from its position. The main mess area overlooks the dry river bed, so you can watch elephants assemble at the base of the waterfall every day, taking advantage of the region’s scarce water sources.

Manyara is not as densely populated as some of the other Northern Parks, so game viewing should not be your only reason for visiting. Aside from regular wildlife drives, Wayo Manyara also offers night drives, canoe safaris on Lake Manyara, and a tree-top hike. Additional walking can be done along the lake’s shore, or for the very daring, a full-day trip into the rift valley. Even en route to camp, mountain biking or tuk tuk rides through the villages are options that enhance the experience.
