When to go to Ruaha. When is the best time to visit Ruaha? Most people who go on vacation to Tanzania want to either go on a trek or to the beach, or both. In general, the best time to go on safari in Tanzania is during the dry season, which lasts from July to October and is hot and dry. The animals are easier to see because the bushes aren’t as thick when the parks dry out. This is because the animals have to gather around the few watering holes that are left.

In November, there are short rains that sometimes last into December, January, and March. In April and May, there are long rains. But that doesn’t mean that December, January, and February aren’t still great months to visit Tanzania…

In terms of temperature The temperature in Ruaha stays between the late 20s and early 30s all year. Even in July, the middle of Tanzania’s winter, the lowest temperature is only 14 degrees. There isn’t as much difference between the short and long rains in Ruaha as there is in the rest of Tanzania. It starts to rain around 19 days into December, and it doesn’t stop until April. The rain usually stops around the middle of May. May is not a good month to go because the camps are closed. You will still find it very wet this month, and it will be hard to get around.

From June to the end of October, on the other hand, it doesn’t rain much at all. For example, it can be hard to see wildlife in Ruaha during the rainy months because the bush can be very thick. This makes it harder to see wildlife than in the flat Serengeti fields. If you want to see the most animals and get the best value for your money, September and October are great months to visit Ruaha because our favorite camps offer free nights.

It’s interesting that the rainiest months are actually December and January, not April and May, which might make you think twice about going on vacation for Christmas. However, many of our guests have seen a wide range of unusual and interesting wildlife in February… It depends on luck that day, just like on any trip!
