Most people who go on vacation to Tanzania want to either go on a trek or to the beach, or both. In general, the best time to go on safari in Tanzania is during the dry season, which lasts from July to October and is hot and dry. The animals are easier to see because the bushes aren’t as thick when the parks dry out.

This is because the animals have to gather around the few watering holes that are left. In November, there are short rains that sometimes last into December, January, and March. In April and May, there are long rains. During the rainy season, the Selous can get very wet…

All year, the Selous has temperatures in the late 20s to early 30s. Before it rains in Tanzania in the winter (the dry season from June to September), it can get pretty hot. In April and May, when it rains a lot in Tanzania, you should stay away from the Selous. From the middle to the end of March, many of the camps stop because the tracks can’t be reached.

From June to October, when it doesn’t rain and the animals gather at waterholes, is the best time to visit. It’s easier to see them because the bush isn’t as thick. You can also look at the months of November through February if you don’t want to pay high season prices and don’t mind getting wet. It might rain, though, and there isn’t as much wildlife.

It doesn’t really dry out between the “short” rains in November and the heavy ones in April and May. In November, small showers start to happen. In December, January, February, and March, the showers get longer and longer until the long rains really start… Overall, going to the Selous in the dry season is the best idea!
