Zanzibar's Offshore Islands

Zanzibar’s Offshore Islands

Zanzibar’s Offshore Islands. The Zanzibar group is made up of several smaller islands, some of which are very beautiful private ones. The two main islands are Zanzibar and Pemba Island.
As well as Zanzibar, the other islands in the archipelago that are worth noting are Pemba Island and the few private islands. People who are staying on Zanzibar Island (which has many great places to stay) should take a day trip to the other islands because they don’t have any places to stay.

The beaches on the islands around Zanzibar are usually more private and away from the crowds and activities on the main island. Some of these can only be reached at certain times of the day depending on the tide. The smaller sandbanks and spits are great for sailing trips and picnics.

The Zanzibar Archipelago includes Pemba Island.

Pemba island is very far from the main tourist route. It provides a wild and untamed island experience that you can’t find on Zanzibar. There aren’t as many places to stay as there are on Zanzibar, but the three lodges we suggest offer a range of luxury levels that should suit most travelers. So, if you want a really different experience in the Indian Ocean, there’s no reason not to look at Pemba. If you really want to see white sand beaches, you might want to combine your trip with Zanzibar Island as well, since Pemba’s beaches aren’t nearly as nice. It’s the best diving in the world.

Private Islands in the Zanzibar Archipelago

On Mnemba Island, you can have the best and most private beach experience with powdery soft sand and complete privacy. It is the best place for a honeymoon in Tanzania or any other Zanzibar vacation. People have chosen this tiny island as one of the most romantic places in the world. It’s everything you could want in a remote, windswept paradise.

Fanjove Private Island is the epitome of beach-shack chic, which means the accommodations are very simple… Still, the food is great, the service is great, and the best thing about it is the location—right on the ocean.

Other islands near Tanzania, such as Mafia Island

Like Pemba, Mafia has a few lodges and gives you a look at a Tanzanian beach scene that isn’t too popular. Mafia’s beaches are unfortunately very wet and are not at all like the luxurious Indian Ocean beaches that some people may imagine. But the things you can do underwater off of Mafia Island are out of this world. From November to March, when the Whale Sharks are in season, people come from all over the world to swim with them. The sea life and scenes under the water are also amazing. This means that Mafia is a great choice if you like water activities and don’t care about lying on a beautiful beach.
